Cristián Larroulet egresó de sus estudios secundarios del colegio Sagrados Corazones de Manquehue. Luego se tituló como Ingeniero Comercial en la Universidad Católica de Chile y obtuvo el grado de Master en Economía en la Universidad de Chicago, Estados Unidos.

Tiene una vasta carrera académica. Ha sido profesor de las escuelas de economía de la Universidad Católica de Chile, de la Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez y de la Universidad de Chile. Fue investigador visitante del Institute of The Americas, Universidad de California, San Diego, Estados Unidos.

Se desempeñó como Decano de la Facultad de Economía y Negocios de la Universidad del Desarrollo. Ha escrito diversas publicaciones académicas tanto en Chile como en el extranjero y es autor del libro “Economía”, editado por MacGraw-Hill.

Posee una larga experiencia en el diseño e implementación de políticas públicas. Fue Jefe de Gabinete del ex Ministro de Hacienda Hernán Büchi y fue Director Ejecutivo del Instituto Libertad y Desarrollo (LYD) durante 20 años. Desde este último cargo, fue asesor del Congreso en variadas materias e integrante de diversas comisiones, tales como la que permitió el acuerdo sobre la Ley General de Educación y la del nuevo Gobierno Corporativo de Codelco.

Su aporte al país ha sido reconocido con diversos premios, entre los que destacan el de Economista del Año 2009, entregado por el Diario El Mercurio.

Fue Macrocoordinador de los Grupos Tantauco.

Cristián Larroulet nació en Temuco, es casado y padre de siete hijos.

Cristián Larroulet graduated from high school at Colegio Sagrados Corazones de Manquehue and he obtained his Business Administration degree from the Universidad Católica de Chile and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago, United States of America.

Mr. Larroulet has a longstanding academic career. He was a professor at the Universidad Católica, Universidad Adolfo Ibañez, and at the School of Economics of the Universidad de Chile. He was a visiting researcher at the Institute of The Americas, the University of California, San Diego, United States of America. At present, he is Dean of the Universidad del Desarrollo’s Economics Faculty. He has written several academic publications in Chile and abroad and he is author of Economía published by MacGraw-Hill.

Cristián Larroulet has longstanding experience in the design and implementation of political policies. He was Chief of Staff of the Treasury under former Minister Hernán Büchi, and was the Executive Director of the Instituto Libertad y Desarrollo. From that position, he has advised the National Congress on a wide range of policy subjects and he is a member of several commissions, such as the one that led to the General Education Law as well as the new Corporate Governance agreement for Codelco.

Mr. Larroulet’s contributions have been recognized with distinctions on several occasions, such as Economist of the Year in 2009 by the newspaper El Mercurio.

Cristián Larroulet was born in Temuco, he is married and the father of seven children.
